Have you seen these Men? Or has anyone got a cowboy hat?

Week three and we’re shaping up to participate in a remake of the western The Long Riders and without any consultation most of us have taken on a similar style of moustache. We think that he challenge allows for excess and most of us have decided to go wild just to see what develops.

The thing about growing a Mo is that you forget that it’s there until you get a strange look from someone you meet. That gets worse if you’ve gone to badminton after forgetting your trainers so end up with Mo, England shirt, shorts and work shoes…..

So without further ado let’s take a look at the facial art that makes up The Hairy Accountants team.

Team Captain Nick was both delighted and astonished when he picked up £274 worth of donations at his golf society meeting last week. Clearly a tribute to looking ridiculous or being brave enough to leave the house – that decision is yours!

After considering Mike to be our serious contender for victory there is concern growing that despite an excellent effort that others are creeping up on the blindside to steal his thunder. Nevertheless it’s a fantastic effort from The Legend.

One of those making a strong effort is Lee who avoided a week 2 mug shot whilst out “growing” his Mo on audit. We’ve checked which job he was on and no paint or creosote was sold by the client so it is the real thing!

John is also mounting a strong charge, though having sported a full beard during the 1990’s it was a sure thing that he would. It’s a cracking effort – all he now has to do is decide which of his vintage motor cycle fleet is suits best.

After all the intrigue Sean managed to catch Chris unawares without his paper to show you all what has developed and let’s be honest it’s a cracker. Whilst the majority of us look rather dubious Chris could sport this into the future and no one would bat an eyelid, or would they as he does their tax?

Josh came back from a client last week with an envelope containing cash for his donations. He was really pleased as the job was on target to complete within budget as well!

Like Chris, Duncan’s effort remains a top lip job only but like others of the fairer brigade it is now clearly visible without using the zoom function.

Finally, it doesn’t matter how many times we say Tricky doesn’t want to remove the beard. We’ve told him its got to go to make him a competitior but thus far its fallen onto deaf ears. Maybe this week…..

So there we go. If you want to add a dontation in favour of the team or an individual compeitior please use the link to go to the Movember site and pledge your cash. All monies will be gratefully accepted. Oh and by the way Nick’s booked up the test to see if his tear ducts are still working… but have you?

Two men down but Movember challengers move forward

What a difference a week makes. Unfortunately we are two down, one through a lack of growth and one with a cheque for £100 in hand but everybody else continues at different levels of performance.

Taking first the abstentions Nigel having been humiliated at home by nobody noticing that he was still taking part took an executive decision to grasp his razor as a meeting at a Barristers office with a new client awaited him in the morning.

Sean on the other hand made it to Friday evening when the “enough is enough” call from his beloved wife Deb. Her original £50 bid had increased to £100 by midweek in order to get through the weekend Sean took the cheque and called a halt. Unfortunate though that is the shaving cream accentuates the moustache that was developing. Rumours abound that one of the stronger contenders had brought outside pressure to bear….

Elsewhere, (and as expected) Mike continues to grow at a pace putting pressure on those fairer haired individuals like Josh and Nick. John and Lee are also doing well but have been away from the office so we have little, apart from verbal embellishments, to report.

Chris, however, has continued to keep you guessing with some thoughts on the decision tree in front of him as to which selection he should make. The trouble is that the selection is wide as our grid below shows and what we’ve come across on networking events are “creatives” who have been thinking out side of the box.

The main purpose though is to get a message across regarding Men’s health and if you fancy donating to the cause you can do so by clicking the Movember logo to the right.

LambChap visits the Colchester First Site development and says “Wow!”

LambChap, the Lambert Chapman Twitter site was lucky enough to win a  competition for a “sneaky peek” viewing of the new First Site building in Colchester and Nick Forsyth took Richard Hamilton, our Charities and Not for Profit manager, along as a guest. Whilst building work continues before the site is handed over in May of this year they were both knocked out by the scale and quality of the development.

Most Colchester residents will be aware of the gold building that is visible from East Hill on the site of the old bus station. What they cannot tell from that distance is the actual size of the building which arcs round in the shape of a Roman Centurian’s helmet providing sufficient space for an entrance hall sufficient in size to seat 150 people or do a product launch, a conference auditorium seating 200, a 90 cover restaurant, a function room capable of holding weddings and other functions plus the new art gallery and first site offices.

The building is being completed to the most up to date standards and is required to be of a quality and climate sufficient to allow the Tate Modern to sign a partnership agreement so that pieces can be shown in Colchester in future. It will also allow a mosaic floor discovered in 1923 and currently displayed in the Castle to be returned to where it was laid in Roman times.

Whilst the project is still some time away from full completion – after the bus station is closed and redeveloped – the opening which is due in September 2010 is going to provide a fantastic cultural area for Colchester that should complement the Castle, Mercury Theatre and “Roman Exhibits” in the area and the additional hotel rooms situated in a boutique renovation of a building on East Hill and new rooms in Queen Street promise to provide the back up a conference hall requires.

I’m hopeful that local businesses of Lambert Chapman’s size will seriously look at the venue and the type of prices quoted to us today during the tour by Commercial Director Wayne Warner seemed very reasonable.
